Lashes

Some frequently asked questions regarding our Lashes.

Do you use real mink lashes?

No, at Eyelashed & Co all lashes used are vegan and cruelty free. Our lashes are made from high quality PBT.

Do lash extensions damage your natural lashes?

If lashes are applied correctly by a trained and certified professional, they will not damage your lashes. A trained professional will use the correct length, weight and amount of glue to maintain your lash health. If your lash artist is not using the correct techniques, your lashes will become damaged over time. Don’t be afraid to ask your lash artist if they are certified!

How long is a lash appointment?

Depending on the service you have selected, lash extensions can take anywhere from 1.5 – 3 hours for a full set.

How do I prepare for a lash appointment?

Come to your appointment with no moisturizers, makeup or oils on your natural lashes and your surrounding eye area. Please also remove contact lenses prior to your appointment.

Classic lashes are 1 single lash extension onto a natural lash.

Russian Volume lashes are a fan of 2 – 6 lash extensions onto a natural lash.

Hybrid lashes are a mixture of both Classic and Russian Volume lashes.

Mega Volume lashes are a fan of 6 – 25 lash extensions onto a natural lash.

How often should I get a refill?

Refill appointments are recommended every 2 – 3 weeks. Anything over 3 weeks is considered a full set.

  • Avoid applying additional mascara over your lash extensions
  • Do not use an eyelash curler
  • Avoiding rubbing your eyes
  • Brush out your lashes with a mascara wand (provided by your lash artist) at least once a day in the morning, especially after getting them wet
  • Keep lashes away from direct heat (ovens and blow dryers) – they can cause your lash extensions to sizzle on the ends

  • Tuberculosis
  • HIV
  • Herpes
  • Diabetes (Doctor’s note required)
  • Botox (can get procedure after 3 weeks)
  • Accutane within 1 year
  • Chemotherapy (Doctor’s note required)
  • Epilepsy
  • Advil/Caffeine/Alcohol (within 24 hours of procedure)
  • Pregnant
  • Breastfeeding
Please email info@eyelashed.ca if you are unsure if you are a good candidate for this procedure.
What is the healing process for permanent makeup brows?

The healing process is very similar to a body tattoo. The eyebrow area will begin to oxidize and gradually get darker. The darkest will be the following day. If there is any redness, it will subside in 2-3 days.

Eyebrows will begin to scab/flake with the healing time consisting of 7-10 days. Healing time differentiates from person to person; some may heal in 4 days, while some in 2 weeks. Try not to compare your healing process to others.

What is the permanent makeup aftercare?
  • Do not pick or peel when eyebrows begin to scab. If the area has been picked or peeled, it will be significantly lighter than the rest of the eyebrow once all scabs are off. Allow the scabs to fall off naturally, you are able to proceed with your regular routine once healing is complete.
  • Always sleep on your back; generally, side and stomach sleepers tend to have the worst retention as the scabs are rubbed off in the sleep from the surrounding areas.
  • No working out as it produces sweat and may cause pre-mature lifting of the scabs. This includes swimming, hot yoga, sauna. If any of this is done, it can cause your scabs to peel prematurely, lose pigment, and in some cases, even cause infection.
  • No products on the eyebrow area. This includes shampoo, cleansers, makeup etc. Only water, scent free cleansers, and ointment is allowed.
  • No sun exposure. Sun is the worst enemy of any tattoo. Always use SPF after the eyebrow is completely peeled.
  • For the first 3 days wash eyebrow area with scent free soap and gently rubbing to loosen any dried blood, collagen and sebum. Rinse again and pat dry with paper towel. If you are living out of town and feel that tap water is not safe, please use bottled water. After 3 days, you are more than welcome to continue splashing eyebrow area with water, however do not rub as it can irritate the scabs.
How long does permanent makeup (brows) last?

Depending on your body, skin type, and lifestyle, your permanent cosmetic area can last anywhere from 1 to 2 years. Most ladies like to come back for a touch up after every year at a smaller cost. If you are a very active individual and are exposed to the sun often, your brows may fade quicker. You can maximize the length of your new brows by applying sunscreen to protecting them from fading.
